A Sustainable Journey: The Inspiring Story of Urvann

Reflecting on Urvann's incredible journey, my heart swells with pride and gratitude. It feels like we planted our first sapling just yesterday, and here we are, celebrating three remarkable years of bringing greenery and joy into countless homes. Our journey has been nothing short of a dream, and today, on Urvann’s third birthday, I want to take you through our story of growth and unwavering commitment to the environment.

A Vision: 350,000 Kilograms and Counting

The world knows by now that plastic waste is one of our most urgent environmental issues. On average, 40 per cent of plastic is produced by the e-commerce industry in packaging. The problem gets worse because nearly half of all plastic is used once. It’s useful for brief moments and then discarded to lie uselessly for centuries. Single-use plastic is not just a severe environmental hazard. It's a call to action for all of us. The plastic that escapes collection flows into our oceans—about nine million tons annually!

Since packaging will remain until we find solutions, we must drastically decrease its impact on the planet. This is where sustainability comes into action.

This vision is what drives us each day at Urvann. 

When I started, I made a bold promise: No plastic packaging for our plants. It was not easy, but it was what motivated me to find solutions for our beloved planet. I just could not bear the thought of making homes greener at the cost of damaging our beautiful world. 

And I am happy to report that, 

As of today, we’ve saved a staggering 350,000 kilograms of waste from going into landfills. Visualise this for a moment – from a potential 350,000 kilograms to zero. That’s 350,000 kilograms of waste that isn’t polluting our environment, clogging our oceans, or harming wildlife.

Driving Green with Electric Vehicles

My next big challenge was to save the precious fuel used to deliver plants to our customers. We are already running low on one of the most essential non-renewable energy sources, and I could not think of contributing to the same. 

At Urvann, we’ve also revolutionised how we deliver our plants. With a fleet of more than 150 electric vehicles, we’ve made 100% of our deliveries greener and significantly reduced our carbon footprint. Over the past three years, we’ve managed to save over 50,000 litres of fuel.

Imagine this: 50,000 litres of fuel that wasn’t burned and 50,000 litres of harmful emissions that weren’t released into our atmosphere. That is also the fuel we save for future generations for innovation and sustainable measures. 

It’s a small yet significant step towards a cleaner, healthier planet, and we’re proud to continue on this journey.

Growing Urvann

As I look into the future, the world seems greener, filled with oxygen-rich air and healthy individuals. My vision is clear: to continue to stick to my promise of creating a sustainable organisation committed to reducing our environmental impact while bringing the joy of plants to even more homes. To spread the joy of planting, educate our younger generations, and prioritise nature repeatedly.
